The EPA claims that Anaheim, Calif., home improvement company Powerstar Home Energy Solutions failed to comply with federal lead-based paint safety regulations. The EPA settled with the company, which now has to pay $11,429 for a civil penalty.
The study from Florida State University’s College of Criminology and Criminal Justice found that the average age of fraud victims was 72, and the average lost among the victims was $2,000 per claim.
