    The homeowners, who keep kosher and host many family gatherings, wanted a space that would accommodate different culinary techniques and top-of-the-line applicances yet also allow for togetherness and comfortable interaction.

    Tall wall units along the kitchen's support wall provide additional storage space as well as room for wall ovens, an appliace garage, refrigerator and more.

    This area was originally the family room. The wall separating it from the kitchen was removed, transforming it into a casual dining space with room for a small office as well as a grand piano.

    The formal dining room. Uniform flooring unites all the spaces, creating one contiguous living space.

Challenge: To update and better integrate the L-shaped kitchen into this lakeside home. Designers dramatically changed the look and flow by creating “zones.” Judges appreciated: the varied finishes that define spaces, steel and light wood in the kitchen, teak in an informal dining area.
